Mixing Dishware Patterns & Motifs

The holiday season is a time to be festive and joyful—and that can translate on a holiday tabletop as a chance to mix and match your dishware. I love the idea of using a whimsical charger—like the leafy one you see here—and layering a mix of solid and patterned plates on top. 

"If you stick with a consistent combination of colors, and make sure that every dish has a distinct function, you're sure to get a look that's unique, seasonal, and sophisticated."

The geometric patterned green and white plate might otherwise look somewhat traditional, but with the charger and the pinecone topper, the look is polished as well as ecclectic.
