Hi cuties! If you joined us last month on The Kuotes, you caught the reveal of the cozy, romantic primary bedroom I created for House Beautiful Whole Home 2025.
"Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on the Kathy Kuo Home pieces that truly bring this space to life—chic, soulful favorites from our collection that deserve their moment in the spotlight."
For this room, I wanted to craft a luxurious sanctuary inspired by my forever-muse, Rupert Penhaligon (you’ll spot his portrait gracing the wall!). Think soft layers, rich textures, and meaningful details that exude warmth from every angle. It’s the kind of exquisitely charming hideaway I imagine Rupert slipping into after his far-flung adventures—a serene escape from the hum of the world outside.
Our iconic Quade Canopy Bed is the grounding force of the entire space—and the perfect example of why you shouldn’t shy away from larger furniture pieces in small spaces. So often, people assume that substantial silhouettes won’t fit or will overwhelm a room. In reality, a beautifully scaled anchor piece like this king-size canopy bed doesn't just fit—it becomes the driver of the entire design narrative.

With custom drapery by AQ Interiors Atelier and Quilting, this elegant iron frame transforms into a cocoon of romance. The green velvet wild lotus fabric is breathtaking from every angle and creates the dreamiest, most intimate atmosphere (yes, I absolutely tested it out myself!). Layered with luxurious Peacock Alley bedding, the result is a restful retreat that radiates comfort, sophistication, and that signature KKH magic—proof that a statement bed can set the tone for an entire room with confidence and grace. The Ayra Nightstand by Theodore Alexander is a classic, timeless piece that highlights natural materials and artisan craftsmanship—two pillars of the KKH aesthetic. Its brown oak exterior is carved in a mirrored herringbone pattern, adding subtle dimension and exceptional texture. With a mix of open shelving and a discreet drawer, it’s perfect for styling decorative treasures while keeping everyday essentials tucked away. It’s timeless, tactile, and goes in just about any bedroom!

Brass accents play a starring role in this warm and cozy primary bedroom, and the Karam Table Lamp is one of my absolute favorite moments. With its hand-combed ceramic base and burnished brass cone shade, this piece casts the most enchanting, atmospheric glow. And let me tell you—these lamps are even more beautiful in real life. They make an incredible design statement, effortlessly elevating the bedside with their sculptural presence.

Sheep… oh, the sheep! They’re everywhere these days—and we like to think we helped start the trend. Because Rupert lives amid rolling countryside hills (as he should), it felt only natural to include Seamus, our most beloved sheep statue, in the room’s design. His soft, cozy wool makes everyone want to reach out and give him a little pat, and despite his charming fluffiness, he’s surprisingly strong. In fact, at a recent launch party in our Tribeca Design Showroom, more than a few guests were caught sneaking a seat on Seamus to snap photos for social. He’s a heartfelt nod to our muse’s pastoral passions and adds just the right dose of whimsy.

The Chandi Sideboard is a masterclass in handcrafted luxury. Its shimmering mother-of-pearl inlay elevates the warmth of the teak frame, while its generous storage space—four drawers and four cabinets—makes it as functional as it is beautiful. This heritage piece brings an artful, worldly energy to the room, echoing the collected sophistication that defines Rupert’s imaginative universe.

This hand-braided Fibreworks jute rug grounds the entire space with soft, organic texture. We customized ours with a nutmeg leather border that pairs beautifully with the room’s warm palette. And here’s a little design secret: Ordering a custom-size rug is far easier than most people think—and it truly makes the room. The right scale can transform a space from “pretty” to “professionally designed” in an instant. If you’re unsure where to begin, our Design Studio experts are always happy to help. But trust me: Choosing the perfect size rug makes an enormous impact and is absolutely worth it. This understated yet impactful piece is the foundation that allows every other layer in the room to shine.
Among the natural elements woven throughout the space, the Iberia Chandelier stands out as a beautifully sculptural accent. Inspired by the sweeping forms of oak branches, its antique bronze-leaf finish strikes the perfect balance of organic and refined. And don’t underestimate what a grand chandelier can do in a primary bedroom—a statement fixture adds incredible depth and dimension.
